11th Sunday after Pentecost

In the Bible, repeatedly, ordinary people experience an encounter with God that leads them into a different way of life. This occurs over and over again - God appears and makes the call. He calls Abraham or he calls Moses or he calls David. Almost always, the person is quite afraid of what God is asking. So God issues a promise. God says, “I’ll do it if you won’t be afraid”. Then the person must make a decision. Sometimes people say “yes”, sometimes they say “no”.
